3 Healthy Halloween Sweet Swaps

Halloween doesn't have to be all about the sugar and artificial ingredients found in traditional treats. Swap the processed candies for cleaner options that not only satisfy cravings but also deliver wholesome ingredients your body will appreciate. Here are three healthier alternatives to your Halloween candy favorites! 
 


Peanut Butter Cup Swap: Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bites  

Ingredients 

  • 1/2 cup natural peanut butter (no added sugar) 
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil 
  • 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (70% cacao or higher) 
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 
  • Sea salt for sprinkling 

Instructions 

  1. Melt the peanut butter and coconut oil in the microwave or over low heat on the stove. 
  2. Stir in vanilla extract and mix until smooth. 
  3. Pour the mixture into a silicone mold or mini muffin tin lined with cupcake liners, filling halfway. 
  4. Melt the dark chocolate chips and drizzle over the top of the peanut butter mixture. 
  5. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt and refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until firm and enjoy! 
     

Gummy Bears Swap: Homemade Fruit Gummies 

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup 100% fruit juice (like orange, cherry, or apple) 
  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup 
  • 3 tbsp unflavored gelatin 

Instructions 

  1. Heat the fruit juice in a small saucepan over medium heat, but do not bring it to a boil. 
  2. Stir in the honey or maple syrup until dissolved. 
  3. Gradually whisk in the gelatin until fully dissolved and smooth. 
  4. Pour the mixture into silicone molds or a small baking dish. 
  5. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours until firm. 
  6. Once set, pop the gummies out of the molds or cut into squares if using a baking dish and enjoy! 

 


Caramel Apple Swap: Cinnamon Baked Apple Slices 

Ingredients 

  • 2 apples (any variety) 
  • 1 tsp cinnamon 

Instructions 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). 
  • Slice the apples into thin wedges and spread them out on a baking sheet. 
  • Sprinkle the apple slices with cinnamon. 
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the apples are tender and slightly caramelized. Enjoy warm!
